A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook Hinoba-an town in southern Negros Occidental at 3:37 p.m. on Dec. 17, causing some residents to panic and run out of offices and homes.

“The earthquake was short but very strong; it was felt by the entire town and neighboring areas,” Mayor Daph Reliquias said.

“When it comes down to it, we can’t say what effect that will have on the price. But as far as we think, the increase is not that substantial,” BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. said in an interview on Wednesday, October 2.

In an interview with the Inquirer on Tuesday, BDONB president Jesus Antonio Itchon said the Basco branch would open by the first half of 2025.
